Change your screen resolution and fix blurry text
A screen set to the wrong resolution looks stretched, fuzzy, or cramped all day. The fix is one settings page, and the right value is almost always the one Windows recommends.
1. Open display settings
Right-click any empty spot on the desktop and choose Display settings. The same page lives at Settings, System, Display on both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
2. Set the recommended resolution
Scroll to Display resolution and pick the option marked (Recommended). That is the physical pixel count of your monitor, and any other value forces the screen to stretch the image, which is where blur comes from. If it looks wrong after the change, Windows reverts automatically in 15 seconds, so nothing can get stuck.
3. Fix the size of things with Scale, not resolution
If everything is the right sharpness but too small, do not lower the resolution. Raise Scale instead, in 25 percent steps. Text stays crisp because Windows redraws it larger rather than stretching pixels. 125 or 150 percent suits most laptops.
4. Arrange a second monitor
With two screens connected, press Windows key + P and choose Extend. Then, back on the Display page, drag the numbered rectangles so they match how the monitors physically sit on your desk. Set the one you face most as the main display.
If text is still blurry in one program
Some older programs scale poorly. Right-click the program's shortcut, open Properties, Compatibility, Change high DPI settings, and check Override high DPI scaling behavior with System selected. That one-app fix solves most stubborn cases.
