Manufacturing and distribution environments have a characteristic that makes them distinctive: some equipment is old, cannot be updated, and cannot be replaced without capital expenditure that dwarfs the IT budget. The machine driving a production line may run an operating system that stopped receiving updates a decade ago, and the vendor may not support anything newer.

Telling you to replace it is not useful advice. Isolating it is.

Segmentation is the core discipline

Production equipment, warehouse systems, office computers and guest access belong on separate network segments with controlled traffic between them. When an unpatched machine cannot reach your file server or your accounting system, its age becomes a manageable risk rather than an open door.

This is the single highest-value change we make in most manufacturing environments, and it is frequently absent entirely. Flat networks remain common in this sector precisely because they grew organically as equipment was added over decades.

ERP and warehouse systems

ERP is the system where downtime is measured in stopped trucks. We support the infrastructure underneath it, coordinate with your ERP vendor, and prioritize it in monitoring and restoration order. Warehouse management, scanners and label printers get the same treatment, since a warehouse that cannot print labels is a warehouse that has stopped.

Shift schedules change maintenance

If you run multiple shifts, there may be no convenient window. We plan maintenance around your actual production schedule, which sometimes means working at genuinely inconvenient hours. That is part of supporting this sector properly.
